Lilydale Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Empowering young people to explore their potential

What is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognised program that empowers young people aged 14-24 to discover their potential and develop essential life skills. It’s about personal challenge, not competition against others. Participants design their own program, set their own goals, and record their progress.

This award encourages young people to step outside their comfort zones, learn new skills, and contribute to their communities. It’s a journey of self-discovery, adventure, and achievement.

The award involves four sections:

  • Volunteering: Giving service to individuals and the community.
  • Physical Recreation: Improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities.
  • Skills: Developing practical and social skills and personal interests.
  • Adventurous Journey: Planning, training for, and completing an adventurous journey.

Levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is structured into three progressive levels, each requiring increasing commitment and challenge:

  • Bronze: The entry level, designed to introduce participants to the award framework.
  • Silver: Builds upon the Bronze level, requiring longer participation and greater commitment.
  • Gold: The highest level, demanding significant dedication and a sustained effort across all sections.

Participants can use activities completed through Pathfinder programs as credit towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, making it a great way to combine existing interests with this prestigious program.
